I’ve created a dashboard for my team with multiple charts. Some charts share the same filters, while others have different filters. For example, I have 3 charts that use one set of filters and another 3 charts that use a different set. I need a feature that allows me to create filters and apply them only to selected charts within a single dashboard, instead of having to create separate dashboards for each group of filters.
Hey Kyarra! Shannon here with the monday team. Thanks for submitting this feature request–we really appreciate your feedback! To clarify, currently, you are applying filters individually to each Chart Widget in your dashboard? If so, have you tried customizing advanced filters for your entire dashboard using the options showcased below?
With the advanced filters, you can set filters which will apply across all of the widgets in your dashboard for all of the connected boards or specific connected boards. Are you looking for further customization? We’d love to hear more about your use case.
Hi @shannon-cxmonday, what I need is different. I need a control on which widgets these filters will be applied.
For example, this is the filter applied to 3 widgets.
And then I have this filter applied to another 3 widgets that are in the same dashboard
I want to have an advanced filter where I can control these filters for specific widgets on the same board, that way when I need to update the filter, I just need to change one and it will apply to all the widgets it’s been assigned to.
Got it–the clarification was super helpful!
Hi @shannon-cxmonday, I am using them. Basically, I have filters that are applied to all the widgets, plus some additional filters that should only apply to some widgets. But sometimes I need to view the data in certain ways, hence the multiple widgets with the same filters.
I submitted a request to be able to Filter by person on Dashboards. It shows it as an option, but after speaking with customer support they said that while the filter by person is an option, it doesn’t actually work. Is this accurate?
Hi Michael! How are you looking to filter your dashboards by person? Filtering by person is definitely possible on a dashboard or specific dashboard widgets. When you apply filters for specific users, is the filter not working as expected?
Correct. I created a dashboard with the updates widget. However, when I go to filter by person, the widget still shows all the updates from everyone. I have tried both the filter by person and the advanced filter option.
Thank you,
Michael Schecher.
Got it. I’ve just confirmed that dashboard filters cannot be applied to Board Updates Widget. Currently, the widget is programmed to pull all of the updates from the connected boards in your dashboard, despite the filters applied on your dashboard. For this reason, filters do not apply to the widget in contrast to other dashboard widgets. I’ll pass your use case along to our Product team to consider. Thank you!
