Ability to view “New updates” count on CRM template boards

Description

On boards created from CRM templates, the standard “New updates” indicator is replaced by a “New activities” indicator.

While activities are useful, this behavior creates an inconsistency compared to regular Work Management boards or even other ‘regular’ board created in CRM, where users can clearly see the number of unread updates (comments, mentions, notes) per item on any board.

At the moment, there is no way to:

  • See a clear count of unread updates on CRM boards
  • Distinguish between unread updates vs. logged CRM activities
  • Use the familiar “New updates” workflow that many teams rely on across other products

What are you trying to achieve

Enable users working with CRM (template) boards to view and manage unread updates in the same way they do on WM or regular CRM boards.
Specifically:

  • Allow CRM boards to display a “New updates” indicator (count + icon), or
  • Provide a clear option to switch between New activities and New updates, or
  • Separate the two concepts so activities don’t replace the updates indicator

This would:

  • Improve consistency across monday.com products
  • Reduce missed internal communication on CRM items
  • Make CRM boards more intuitive for teams transitioning from Work Management to CRM
  • Support managers and sales teams who rely on update counts to prioritize work

Thanks for bringing this up! Currently, CRM template boards show “New activities” instead of the usual “New updates” count, which makes it hard to quickly see unread updates on items. Having a true unread updates count or a toggle between activities and updates would make CRM boards more consistent and help teams avoid missing important info. For now, the Update Feed (Inbox) can be used to track unread updates across boards, though it’s not the same as item-level visibility.
