Assign a person completeing an action to a specific item

for example, if person x changes status item to ‘working on it’ then a column called ‘requested by’ will be assigned to person x automatically.

In the meantime, it can be easily done with the Advanced Formula Booster, a 3rd-party app that can cast formula results to any type of column.

You simply create the following formula:

and add the following automation:
