I use Monday Work Management as a way to organise and share bookings for my business every month.
I have groups which represent every month and an items in each group which represents every day in that month. Each item has fields relating to that day and booking, such as ID number, start date and time, end date and time, location notes etc
I would like a way to be able to automatically populate each group(month) with the correct number of items (days) for that month and have each item created with some default values.
For example: If I were to create a group called “April” I would like a way to be able to automatically enter 30 items into that group (based on the number of days in the month), each with a Booking ID of “un-booked” and a start date and end date which relates to that entry (item 1 would be 01/04/2024, item 2 would be 02/04/2024 etc)
Whilst you can set up automations to create X amount of items each month, it becomes quite complex when setting the amount of items per group based on the amount of item per month, as well as the date for each item based on the date of the month.
That said, I am interested in something like this could work for you.
Set up a monthly template group, which would require you to set up each item in the group and dates for each item (doesn’t really matter the month, just as long as it’s in chronological order for that month).
Set up a dependency column and ensure each item is dependent on the item before - this will ensure the date adjustments/changes (based on the month) are seamless.
My idea is that each month you can simply duplicate the template, edit the group name for the month and adjust the date in item 1 which will then automatically adjust the following dates using the dependencies.
Here’s an example:
This also means any adjustments you need to make can be made to the template for you to duplicate the next month.
