Can someone help me as to why not all groups on my board will pull through to chart?

Hi Everyone, I’m trying to create a chart to show some cost savings that are stored in a number column. My issue is, that only one of my groups is showing (ironically the only one I don’t need!) and I can’t pull any information through for the others. Any help is really appreciated! I’ve attached some screen shots below. It’s still in template form so full of dummy data.

This is an example of one of the groups I need to pull to the chart: it is the “Cost Savings (per month)” column I need to pull through.

In the chart settings I have the following:

Chart Type: Bar

X-axis: Group

Y-axis: Cost Savings (per month)

Groups: All Groups

When I change the y-axis to count items, this pulls through only one group. If I change x-axis to item, it only pulls through the items from the same one group.

Any help greatly appreciated! I usually have no issues developing charts or even multi-board dashboards, so its sending me crazy!!!

Hello @CharF Hey Charlotte! You’re not crazy :slightly_smiling_face: this is a known chart limitation.

Quick checks that usually fix it:
• Make sure Cost Savings (per month) is a Numbers column not a Formula or Mirror
• Ensure every group has a value in that column no blanks
• Set Y-axis aggregation to Sum and Groups to All groups
• If it’s a mirrored column, the chart must be built on the source board

Common workaround is copying the value into a native Numbers column before charting

Hi @CharF,

Welcome to the community!

A few important things worth checking that commonly cause this behavior:

  • Make sure the number column has actual values in all groups
Blank cells, formulas returning empty, or non-numeric values won’t be picked up by the chart.
  • Check the Y-axis aggregation
Try switching between Sum / Average to see if values start appearing.
  • Look for hidden filters on the widget
Even a small status or date filter can exclude entire groups.

:backhand_index_pointing_right: Important one to double-check (this caught me out too!)
If multiple groups have the same name, the dashboard will treat them as one single group and aggregate them together. I ran into this exact issue myself and spent way too long troubleshooting before realizing this was the cause

To fix this give each group a unique name (even a small suffix works), then refresh or recreate the chart.

Hopefully one of these gets things displaying properly.

Hi @CharF . You didn’t mention any filters on your chart. What filters are you using? Are you filtering out the one group that you don’t want?

Hey, thank you for the response!

I can confirm no filters

I can also confirm all groups are checked and have independent names. Its only pulling through “Process Time Saving Calculator” on the X-axis at all. Its not that the other groups are there with 0 values, they’re not there at all. “Process Time Saving Calculator” is the only group to not use this field, hence why the €0 is returned. Ironically I created this group to help users calculate the cost savings so that we had no formula’s being use in the groups needed for the chart.

Hey! Thanks for responding. I can confirm that my settings are exactly as you have described above and in native number columns and no mirrored columns.

Its really baffling me!

Have you now get it done ? @CharF

Hi Charlotte, that is the widget filter, which filters do you have set at the top level?

Also, you can turn off the top level filters on the widget level

Hey, check that your column type is identical across all groups and that the chart settings include all the groups you want. Often the chart will only pull from one if there’s a mismatch.

Hi Charlotte — that looks like the widget-level filter. Can you check what filters are applied at the dashboard’s top level?

Hey, no not yet. I’ve checked everything suggested on this thread and nothing has worked. I think I’m resigned to building the board from scratch again. I’ve build much more complex boards & dashboards without these issues so I’m really unsure what’s going on.

Hey, thanks for replying.

Colum type is the same, the information pulls from the same column from all groups.

Hey, no filters at top level
