Hi everyone,
I’m setting up a threeboard flow where:
Board A holds master records.
Board B item links to Board’s A item, upon user linkage.
Board C is auto-populated from Board B.
What I trying to setup is for the item created in Board C to inherit the original Board A link rather than just linking back to Board B. The standard “Create item in another board” automation only links B→C and doesn’t carry over the A→B connection.
Has anyone solved this using built-in automations or it only possibole with a custom integration required to propagate the Board A link into Board C automatically?
Hello!
It’s typically not possible with standard built-in automations to directly carry over a “grandparent” link (Board A) to an item created in Board C, when Board C is populated from Board B. While built-in automations connect B to C, they lack the native ability to reach back and propagate the original A→B connection to C. For this, you’ll likely need more complex chained automations or, more reliably, a custom integration via platforms like Make.com or Zapier.
If you had Enterpise, you could do it with the workflow center. With Pro, I can’t think of a native way to make that happen without an app or something like make.com
I found a native workaround:
I made the connectin in the second board with the first.
When the automation worked it created item in third board and connected it to second board only.
I could actualy mirror the connection of the second board with the first board to the third board, and it achived my goal. the mirror is editble so all function I needed I can use trhough the mirror
Hopefully it could be helpful for somebody.
