Column Color Shading

An upvote from me!

I too have a massive board and would like to color columns together that have meaningful/same data

I would love this feature too.

YES! YES! YES!
Very difficult to keep everything straight without some visual help.
Please kick it up the priorities!

Hi everyone,

What’s wrong with this a solution?

Did you achieve it with conditional colouring?

Where column contains and doesn’t contain content, then colour the same?

It’s more of being able to see the boards with banded colors so it’s easier to go across or down.

Did you tried this?

@lindosl Yes. but it’s not the same as what we are suggesting.

Another use case for me would be for a schedule change request board I built. I’d like to color code the columns that represent the current schedule, and color the requested schedule columns in another color so that they’re just easier to interpret.

These three items would be top priority for us.
Our company has 50 + boards and this would be a game changer for us.

Adding my support here, this seems like a fairly simple feature to add and would have a massive impact. I agree with MJ-AIFS above me that setting background color for columns, rows, and alternating rows are the most important and obvious enhancements here. Any feedback on movement of these features would be appreciated.

YES. Why hasn’t this been done yet?!

I agree, this is very needed!

Would absolutely love these features!

  • We have some rows and columns that apply to certain groups of people, it would be so helpful to colour code so they have a visual on what is relevant to them.
  • Also, for the columns, we would need to be able to colour code by group ie I could see us using colour to highlight the most important columns in one group, which would be different in another group.

@CXS This request is years in the making and has massive support. Not sure there is any reason to NOT implement this feature. Allow custom color choices and the ability to re-use colors. would drastically improve usability system wide. @monday-team

We are BEGGING you!

This is crazy that nobody from Monday has even replied to this thread.

Looping @Julia-monday.com
This will such an amazing thing if it comes online, without color coding the board looks bland, and it is so easy to get lost if there are too many columns.

Hey everyone, Orit here from monday! I’m a customer experience specialist, working closely with the product team who is in-charge of the board appearance and functionalities.
Happy to e-meet you all!
I read your useful feedback and I will definitely forward it to our team. It’s not planned for now, but I believe the conditional coloring feature is pretty close to what you’re looking for. Have you come across that?
With conditional coloring, you can easily apply coloring to cells that meet your defined criteria to visually emphasize or differentiate among the data on your board. Here you can read more about it.
I hope it helps!

@Orit

Conditional coloring almost works. But because it can’t be saved to the main table, and because very often people arrive at a specific board from the inbox or a notification, which ALWAYS takes them to the main table instead of whatever is set as the default view, conditional coloring might as well not exist :frowning:

But if that issue could be fixed, I think conditional coloring would be a step toward what I think a lot of us are looking to do.

Thanks for anything you can do to get this resolved!
