Hi, I want to measure the progress of an entire project in a board. The project includes multiple status columns. While it’s very simple to create a widget measuring the percentages of progress from a single column. I can’t figure out out to total the progress of multiple columns together. But this is very important because a single column is only one part of the picture. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Hey David! Welcome to the monday Community! Thanks for walking us through your use case. Rather than creating a widget to capture the progress of your entire project board, I’d suggest adding a Progress Tracking Column to your board.
As you can see, I can sync all of my Status Columns to the Progress Tracking Column. You can customize whether you’d like to weight one or more of the Status Columns a certain percentage or distribute the weight evenly. Let me know if this helps.
Thanks for your advise, the progress column is great for measuring the total progress of each row, and also for totaling the progress of each group at the bottom. But how can I total the progress of many columns together?
Of course! Thanks for following up with me. Ideally, how are you looking to view or calculate the total the progress of these Status Columns? Are you looking to see a numerical total?
For example, is each label within your Status Columns weighted differently? So, when Status 1 is updated to X, that weighted value is pulled into a calculation to sum the total? Any additional insight you can share will help me point you in the right direction!
I am looking to count all the statuses on the board that are selcted to “Done”, thereby giving a prgress calculation based on that. For exmpl: Let’s say there are 100 statuses in board (altogether between the columns and the rows), each one representing a certain task that needs to be accomplished. If 57 have bean changed to done that means the project is 57% done. How can I get this calculation?
Thanks for your help!
