Is there an automation or a workflow to connect newly created boards to dashboard to eliminate the need to connect these manually?

Great question!
In Monday.com, dashboards don’t automatically connect to new boards when they’re created. Right now, there isn’t a built-in automation that says “whenever a new board is created, add it to this dashboard”.

Here are your options:

1. Manual Connection (default way)

  • By design, dashboards require you to select which boards supply data to widgets. That’s why you currently have to connect new boards manually.

2. Workarounds

  • Templates:
    If you often create new boards that need to connect to a dashboard, you can build a board template and a dashboard template together. When you duplicate them, the dashboard will already have the right connections (though you still need to reconnect if you add entirely new boards).

  • Mirroring / Master Board:
    Instead of connecting each new board to the dashboard, you can use mirrored columns or an automation that centralizes items into a “master board.” Then, your dashboard only needs to connect to that one board. This avoids updating dashboard connections every time.

  • Third-party Integrations (Integromat/Make, Zapier, etc.):
    With external tools, you can set up workflows that detect when a new board is created and then update dashboard connections automatically—but this requires extra setup outside of Monday.com.

3. Roadmap Check

Since Monday.com evolves quickly, it’s worth checking their community forum or roadmap, as this exact feature has been requested by users and may be added in the future.

However, you can use automations combined with integrations (like via Zapier or Integromat/Make) to streamline the process—automatically adding new boards to a specific dashboard when they’re created. It’s not 100% native, but it can save a lot of manual work.

thank you Karl, it would be great to have Monday.com native way, rather than using 3rd party.
