I would like to see another license type that is a contributor license. This license could see boards they are invited to, add items, change status and communicate through updates. It would be very similar to the guest license but for people in your domain. These users would be able to participate in boards but not develop anything new.
What are you trying to achieve
I am trying to achieve allowing people in my domain to participate in boards but not develop anything new. This license should be less than a Member license and would allow members of our non-profit organization to participate while limiting their access at a more affordable price than a full member.
I understand the use case. Wanting an in-between license for internal users who need to participate but not build or administer boards comes up fairly often, especially for nonprofits and larger organizations.
At the moment, the main distinction is that Members have full board creation and structural permissions, while Guests are intended for external collaborators and are limited in scope. There isn’t currently a separate “contributor” style license for internal users within the same domain.
Some teams work around this by:
• Using board-level permissions to limit what Members can change, such as restricting who can edit board structure.
• Creating private or shareable boards so contributors only see what they need.
• Carefully managing workspace permissions to reduce the ability to create new boards.
It doesn’t fully replicate a lower-cost internal contributor role, but it can help control access while staying within the current license structure.
