Correct error in charts which use data summarized in parent row

I find potentially super helpful the option to summarize subitems on a parent row. However when I started to use the Charts widget, I realized a significant overcount which may affect the reporting by others who use this attractive feature.

On my board, each client is an item, and each product of a client is a subitem. I use the “summarize on parent row” to summarize which products that a client has. If a client has 6 subitems for the same product, the “summarize on parent row” shows the name of the product ONE time which is perfect because this is a summary. This gives me an accurate view of the # of clients with X product.

However, what I see I on my board is not what I get in a bar/pie/doughnut chart. Instead of showing one instance of that product, the chart will show SIX of that product, a substantial overcount, especially once multiplied by a large customer base.

The request: When creating a chart, I would like for item-level counts on the X-axis to be correct and in line with what I see on my board as well. I hope a product manager and developer will find the issue with the “summarize on parent row” feature so I can depend on Monday for reporting.

If there are any ideas for workarounds, please let me know, and thanks in advance!
