Description
Allow the “+New Item Button” default action to be changed to “Create Item via FORM” (this is something you can do on CRM but not Work Management).
After moving from CRM to Work Management, we noticed the “Create Items via Forms” is no longer available. This feature was essential for us to guide item creation by setting required fields, hiding unnecessary columns, and ensuring key intake data is captured upfront. Without it, items can be created with missing information, which disrupts our automations and, even more critical, our workflows that are set with specific triggers and conditions.
While we can create a Form View and enable “allow item creation with form,” the form is only accessible via a dropdown beside the New button, and we cannot change the default button action. This extra step will realistically lead to user error, with many items bypassing the form and resulting in inconsistent data. ![]()
“Create Item via Card” helps prompt for details but still doesn’t allow required fields or layout control. We’d strongly value the ability to restore or add create via Form View as the default.
What are you trying to achieve
We want to ensure that new items are created with complete, standardized intake data by guiding users through a required form view at the point of creation. This helps reduce user error, maintain data quality, and reliably trigger our automations and workflows. Only the Form View allows us to require “Connected Board Columns” to be set as required, we which leverage extensively.
Allow the “+New Item Button” default action to be changed to “Create Item via FORM” (this is something you can do on CRM but not Work Management). Alternatively, allow the Item Card view that can be used to be customizable with required items AND hidden items.
