Emails & Activities – Allow choosing which email columns / connected contacts are tracked

Description

Description

On our Client Profiles board, each item represents a client household.
We have:

a Contacts column that connects to our Contacts board (each contact there has an Email column) – these are the main client contacts, and we do want their emails tracked in Emails & Activities for the Client Profile item.

a Referrer column that also connects to a contact in the same Contacts board (also with an Email column) – this is a different person who referred the client, and we don’t want their emails to appear in the Client Profile item’s Emails & Activities timeline.

Currently, Emails & Activities logs emails for all connected contacts that have Email-type columns, so emails to/from the referrer are mixed into the client’s communication history. This makes the timeline noisy and less useful for the adviser who is trying to see only direct client communication.

Support suggested using Never Log, but this is a global setting:

It would prevent the referrer’s emails from being logged a

What are you trying to achieve

I’d like to keep the Emails & Activities timeline focused only on the main client contacts for a board item, while still being able to store other related contacts (e.g. referrers) with their email addresses without having their emails automatically logged on that item.

hi @techthings you’re right - Emails & Activities currently logs every connected email-type column, and there’s no native way to exclude one connected contact from tracking while keeping another. “Never Log” being global definitely doesn’t help in setups like yours.

If you need more control today, you might consider using Email to Tasks for monday.com. It lets you decide exactly which emails should be logged to an item, instead of having everything auto-synced from all connected contacts. That way you can keep referrer emails stored, but only attach client communication to the item’s history.
