Can we allow attached Excel files to be viewed in the correct format instead of it being displayed as a Word document?
I can’t see a more recent post but just commenting and upvoting in case it bumps this as…as far as I can see this remains an issue. It makes it difficult to use Monday as a full work management tool.
Hey Andoni,
At the moment, file previews in monday are handled through the platform’s document viewer, and Excel files don’t always render in their native spreadsheet format the way they would inside Excel itself. That’s why they can sometimes appear more like a document preview rather than a fully interactive sheet.
If viewing the file in its original format is important, the most reliable option is usually to open or download it directly in Excel. Another approach some teams use is to connect files from OneDrive or SharePoint so they can open the live version in Microsoft 365 instead of relying on the preview.

I think that’s great but I think @Monday should still consider developing this feature natively so you don’t have to rely on integrations.
Hi @GregMooir and @Andoni00 ,
If you’re open to apps, Smart Spreadsheet can help with this problem.
You can upload your local files or import a board into the app’s view, and work with the data right inside monday. The data are 2-way synced.
You can read the documentation or install the app and play with it on your account for free.
