Feature Request: “Elapsed Time” Widget (Time Since a Date)

Description

Hi monday team :waving_hand:

Currently, the Countdown Widget only works for future dates, showing how much time is left until a specific date. However, there’s no option to do the opposite — to show how much time has passed since a specific date until now.

This feature would be extremely useful for many use cases, such as:

Tracking time elapsed since the start of a project or phase.

Showing how many days have passed since an employee’s hiring date, an event, or an audit.

Monitoring the age of tasks, assets, or incidents.

Ideally, it would be great to select a past date (from a Date or Date-Time column) and have the widget display the elapsed time in days, weeks, months, or even years, updating automatically.

While this can be approximated with formulas like DAYS({Date}, TODAY()), there’s currently no visual widget or counter equivalent to the Countdown Widget that shows elapsed time.

What are you trying to achieve

Add an option within the existing Countdown Widget or create a new “Elapsed Time Widget” that displays the time passed since a chosen date.

This would be a valuable addition for dashboards tracking ongoing metrics or historical progress. :raising_hands:

Totally agree - monday’s Countdown widget only covers the “time until” scenario, but not the “time since” one, which is honestly just as important.

If you need an elapsed-time view right now (days/weeks/months since a project started, task was created, audit date, etc.), you might want to look at Time in Status for monday.com. It already includes time-since reporting and item-age dashboards that auto-update and work across multiple boards.
Super helpful when you need a visual timer or aging counter that monday doesn’t provide out of the box.
