Feature Request: Show Accurate Sender/Recipient Info in Updates Section Emails

Current Issue:

At present, when email threads are shown in the Updates Section, only the original sender’s name is consistently shown throughout the thread. This means that:

  • When I send an email from the task item, the recipients are not visible in the update history.
  • When someone replies to that email, the update still shows my name as the sender, even though it was sent by someone else.

Example:

If I send an email from the task item to a third-party agency (e.g., john.doe@agency.com), the Update displays the message under my name but does not show that it was addressed to John Doe.
When John replies, his response still appears in the update as if it came from me, which is misleading and creates confusion.

Impact on Workflow:

This limitation creates inefficiencies and communication breakdowns in the following ways:

  • Team members reviewing the task cannot quickly identify who was contacted or who responded, leading to unnecessary follow-ups or duplicate communication.
  • In audit or compliance scenarios, it’s difficult to validate the chain of communication without having to open each email manually.
  • It reduces trust in the record-keeping within Monday.com, requiring us to reference external inboxes for clarification.

Proposed Enhancement:

Please consider updating the email display behavior in the Updates Section to:

  1. Show the recipient(s) of the email sent from Monday.com.
  2. Display the actual sender’s name and email address for each response, rather than defaulting to the original user who initiated the conversation.

Benefits:

  • Increases transparency and accountability across teams.
  • Improves collaboration and task ownership tracking.
  • Streamlines auditing and follow-up processes by keeping communication context clear.

We value the efficiency and organization Monday.com brings to our work, and this improvement would significantly enhance that experience. Thank you for your consideration and for continuing to evolve the platform based on user feedback.

Thank you,
