We know that for the Files column there is an option called “Upload file from link”. Is there a way to do this using the API?
My usecase is that I have to import some data where there are links of several google docs, sheets, etc. So it makes sense for me to upload those ulrs as files with a shortened name.
All the solutions that I found online are for actual file uplaod not the links that I was looking for.
Hello @Matias.Monday, thanks so much for getting back to this.
That’s unfortuante
I really had a strong usecase for it. We need to upload a client’s data from excel where there are links to files. A link column is the last resort, but having a shortened name for those urls would have been an absolute win in this case.
It’ll be a huge waste of resources to be able to do them manually now. Any suggestions you might have on this regard?
There is a slight exception to this, you can add a link to an item asset to a files column - such as from an update. But it has oddities, if you delete it from the files column or the update it deletes the asset but doesn’t remove the reference in other locations. They become broken links.
