We run a service where people sign up to a mailbox through a Monday form. We currently use Auto Column ID (10|AutoID Column - Excellent Team) to assign the mailbox number. This works currently, however. We have a limited number of boxes, when someone leaves the service we need to reassign that number to a new customer.
Is there anyway for the user to be assigned (or choose) an available number from a list? e.g. 41 - 100 are available but so is 23 and 13 because customers left?
Easiest way is a mailboxes board, lists all mailboxes, and has a two way connect boards column to all of the customers. Then when you need one, you find one thats empty, and connect to the customer in question.
If assignments being done manually but easily is sufficient, then this should do.
When someone leaves, deleting the customer item or clearing the connect boards column (automation) will free it up on the mailboxes board. On the customers board, there would be a connect boards column for the mailbox showing the mailbox number.
