I am trying to use the “I was mentioned” widget on a dashboard and it will not let me select the option for “Only mentions I didn’t reply to”. It’s showing mentions from years ago and I don’t want all of those cluttering it. I tried unfollowing an update, which did remove that mention, but it did not remove any mentions in the replies to that update. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?

It sounds like the “I was mentioned” widget is pulling in all mentions without properly filtering based on reply status. There are a few things that could be causing this issue and some potential workarounds you can try.
Possible Causes & Solutions:
- Dashboard Widget Bug or Limitation
- Some users have reported that the “Only mentions I didn’t reply to” filter doesn’t always work as expected. It may be worth refreshing the dashboard or re-adding the widget to see if the option becomes available.
- Unfollowing an Update vs. Replies to That Update
- Unfollowing an update removes your notification for that mention, but mentions inside replies to that update may still be tied to your account.
- Try manually responding to one of the old mentions to see if it clears from the widget. If this works, you may need to do a one-time cleanup by replying to all old mentions.
- Archiving or Deleting Old Updates
- If your team still has access to the old updates, you could try archiving or deleting them to prevent them from appearing in the widget. However, this depends on whether your permissions allow for that.
- Filtering by Timeframe Instead
- If you can’t get the “Only mentions I didn’t reply to” filter to work, see if you can filter by a more recent date range instead to remove older mentions from view.
Right now, it looks like the best workaround is either manually responding to old mentions to clear them or filtering by date to hide older ones. Let me know if you find another solution!
