We release materials to 7 markets on a rolling basis and we’ve been tracking how markets adopt those tools in excel. So the items and the sub items and columns are the same, but I’d like each market to have it’s own group to manage its data. The problem is maintaining item and sub item updates across 7 groups. So far I’ve seen I can create a top group and then copy new items and subitems then move them one at a time to the other groups, or I can automatically create the items in the other groups, but the sub items don’t follow. Is there a better way to do this?
Hi Colleen, this is MK from Mindflows. You’re right—managing consistent items and sub-items across multiple groups can get tricky, especially when each market needs to manage its own data independently. The two options you’ve tried have limitations.
To keep items and sub-items aligned across market groups in monday.com, consider using a master template group. From there, you can use tools like Make or the monday.com API to automatically push updates to each group, keeping everything consistent without manual effort.
Hi Collene,
Great question! Managing consistent items and subitems across multiple groups can be a bit tricky, especially when you’re tracking the same structure for multiple markets.
Currently, Monday.com does not natively support mirroring or syncing subitems across groups. However, here are a couple of approaches you might find helpful:
- Templates + Automations: You can create a group template with all the items and subitems set up, and then duplicate that group whenever a new market needs to be added. This helps maintain consistency across all markets.
- Make.com Integration: Using Make.com (formerly Integromat), you can automate the creation of items and subitems across multiple groups. With the right scenario setup, it’s possible to replicate both the items and their subitems from a master group into multiple groups automatically.
- Mirror Columns + Dashboards: If tracking updates across groups is the priority, you can use mirror columns and dashboards to centralize key information from each market while still allowing each group to manage its own data independently.
Best,

is there a template you recommend? or is a master template group something I can create on my existing board?
