I signed up to monday so I can track tasks in my project with another member (2 people all in all). I honestly don’t know how, but we both ended up with monday dev accounts.
We don’t mind, but the default grouping when going into the tasks board is set to sprints, which is not so useful for us right now, and rather just see the groups we assign.
Even when changed to a different group by (or just remove the filter), after refresh/go out and back into the page, the group by defaults back to sprints.
It sounds like you’re using a Monday Dev workspace, which is tailored for software teams and comes with default views like grouping by sprints. That’s why your task board keeps defaulting to that structure, even after you change it.
To fix this, you have a couple of options:
Option 1: Customize and Save Your View
Go to the board and adjust the Group By setting to what you prefer (e.g., “No Grouping” or a different field).
Click the three-dot menu (•••) in the top right corner of the board.
Select “Save as default view” (or just “Save view” if that option is there).
This ensures your custom view persists even after refreshing.
Option 2: Switch to a Blank Workspace
If you don’t need the Dev features like sprints and backlogs:
You can create a new workspace with a basic board structure (without the Dev templates).
This will give you a cleaner setup without those default sprint groupings.
To do this:
Click your profile picture → Workspaces → Create new workspace → Choose a blank or basic template.
