Need help with custom Automation

I am fairly new to Monday and trying to create an automation using the following logic: If a new item has not been created in the last 7 days, then an email notification will be sent to an individual. Any help would be appreciated.

monday automations can’t directly trigger based on something not happening, like no new item being created. But you can get very close with a simple workaround.

Here’s a common approach that works well:

  1. Add a Date column like “Last item created”

  2. Create an automation:
    When an item is created → set “Last item created” to today

  3. Create a scheduled automation:
    Every day → if “Last item created” is more than 7 days ago → notify or email a person

This way, you’re tracking the last creation date and letting a scheduled automation do the check for you.

Thanks for the help. I am struggling with how to create the “ is more than 7 days ago” logic. I don’t see it within the automation options.

monday is still limited on the ‘conditional ‘ logic you can add to an automation/workflow that starts with ‘every time period’. Can you maybe give a little more about your current set up/goals? Maybe we can help think of another option?

We have a tracking log board for newly created items that are expected a certain number of new entries over a 7 day period ( a quota of sorts ). I was hoping Monday could notify me, as the manager, if a new entry has NOT been created over a 7 day period, notifying me that they are not doing the required entries of 1 every 7 days.

Hi @OscarTerry You can do this with Make.com even if you’re new to Monday. The flow would look like this:

  1. Every day, Make checks your board for items created in the last 7 days.

  2. If it doesn’t find any, it automatically sends an email notification to the person you specify.

This way, you don’t have to manually track the board—Make handles the checking and emailing for you.
