Preventing duplicates and copies: Can all items related to a contact feed information back to a Contact entry?

I’m rebuilding an existing CRM and student tracking workflow in Monday CRM.

Here’s a very brief look at our client flow for context:

  1. Lead comes in and is added to a Master List.
  2. Lead moves to intake → must be in a board for our staff to make intake notes, update statuses, etc.
  3. Intake moves into active student status → must be moved into a board to track their payments, attendance, current courses and phases, etc.
  4. Student graduates and moves to alumni status, moved to yet another board.

Many things can be updated or tracked on a student throughout this process. On the CRM side, we just need to track each person and their current stage/status, really. We want our version of the contact to update and reflect changes made to that person in all other boards they’re a part of. If we were to open their Overview, it would be amazing to see all boards they’re a part of as well.

Is there any way to make an item reflect certain changes from all other boards that person is a part of? Or do I have to depend on automations and Connected Columns/Mirror linkages to have those updates reflected on our Master List?

If I understand your case correctly then why not just connect the other boards to your contact board and then just mirror the status column?

As your contact moves through these Boards you can just „move“ the connection with it, as long as you have all the Boards in the connect Boards columns.

Alternatively I would think about whether ‚moving‘ the Contact is actually needed or whether it wouldn’t make more sense to just have a single Contacts Board with different statuses (Lead, Alumni, Student, etc.)
