Would love an update on this, a lot of us depend on hierarchy style tasks and subtasks.
HI @monday How does the voting work? Every single item on the roadmap has over 100 less votes that this feature request…and hundreds more less than another feature request? This is a very important feature that could open up a world of possibilities and bring you more business (which I can confirm as a consultant who has lost sales to clients due to not having a proper hierarchy) I just don’t understand how this has double the votes, 15k views but isn’t on the roadmap. Adaptavist offers an app that does this but it’s such a basic feature to pay additional monthly cost for. Please, please get this one moving!!
Side note: I understand timing, resources, level of effort, etc. impact the roadmap but if the fix is already coded in an existing app in Monday, it just seems like this could be an amazingly huge win for Monday and all it’s users…

monday.com is so bad
Sadly, Monday’s feature lack of support for multi-level subtasks ended up being THE reason that I did not select Monday.com for use. (Missing feature) I’d experienced this same flat hirearchical challenge using JIRA over many years in tech, and have zero interest in experiencing the same PTSD around trying to compensate for a similar architecture limitaiton again while paying for a supposedly “modern” product.
I ran a trial for Monday.com, but quit due to this feature limitation.

Hi I see this request for sub items under sub items has been here for a while. Is there any development in this? I think its so important to have this feature especially under Projects, as a project can have multiple sub items beneath it. I would like to use the projects purely for the ease and views of project management but its useless to me without the subitems hierarchy.
I also think its important to be able to automate subitems so can we look into this too

Does anybody of monday care about this feature? I´m thinking about to move everything to clickup, just because of the missing sub-subitem feature in monday…
should be very easy for you to impelement, but people are waiting for years for this…
for years people are requesting this feature here in the forum, but nobody cares…

It seems most project management software can support multiple levels of hierarchy. It is absolutely needed on larger projects, where you have tasks that need to be broken down with each having its own list of “subitems”. The workarounds necessary to create boards are unruly.

TO be fair, clickup isnt any better. Yes they have Nested Subitems. But all the subitems inherit the same exact columns of the parent. Monday’s subitems at least allow you to create columns just for the subitems. So that doesnt really work either. Asana has the feature done right.
@Julietteb I saw on the monday elevate 23 that the DEV product will be getting a breakdown feature where you can break things down into sub groups. I also saw that 2024 boards will allow more advanced grouping. Could these new features plus MONDAYDB’s new architecture allow for nested items in a better way?
Clickup isn´t better, but is has the sub-sub-items feature… i do not really get, why monday dont have it… its so easy, the data base structure is already given. everything is already there technically, as the have sub-items. so it would be so easy to integrate sub-sub-items…
not even a day of work for a developer, but they need years to keep an open ear for the community where everybody spends thousands of dollar a year for this tool.

Looks like the last update on this item was back in September of 2023. Our team would benefit greatly (like many others here) from having the sub-sub-item functionality.
In addition, I’ve seen someone else mention the expand/compress all functionality. 100% agree that this would be a gamechanger for workflow improvement.
Adding on one more idea to the sub-sub-item integration - it would be incredibly helpful to have the ability to select the sub-items AND the main items at the same time to make changes between levels.
Keeping my fingers crossed this feature request is coming down the line soon. It sounds like there’s a big need in the community!

Currently, it is only possible to create one sub-item to an item. Many times it would have been amazing if there was the possibility to create sub-items to the sub-items, to make the structure deeper.

Hi community, just wanted to provide an update here: The development team is in the early stages of doing research to develop the ability to add subitems under subitems. We know having this feature is important to many in our community and our development team is on it!
While at the moment do not have an exact release date, our community will be the first to receive updates on it development process, so make sure your notifications are turned on for this thread.

Not having this functionality limits my use of Monday.com
I know there is a 3rd Party app Unlimited subitems but they are asking me to pay another $350 per month per user - this is day light robbery…!!!
Shame this is not part of the product.
