I’ve been having to use the “Dropdown” feature and creating a bunch of different labels in order to have some sort of subitems list in my subitems. Please, this is really messy. Can we get that update anytime soon? It’s been two years…
Hi,
Same question as the 2 colleagues above : is there any news regarding the integration of this otherwise satdanrd functionality in Monday ?
Here to boost this inquiry. Has there been any movement on the enhancement? It would be a vast improvement to our workflow!
Please add this feature. We have to have separate boards because of this which is causing confusion.
It is amazing, in late 2024, a PM app doesn’t have the ability to nest sub-tasks more than one level. I’d really like to utilize this product moving forward, but it simply can’t meet our PM needs as-is. Any update to the timeline of what is a VERY BASIC PM feature would be greatly appreciated. Also - if any human reads this that has a good alternative to Monday, I’d love to take a look.
Of the 17 items listed under “Coming Soon”, only 3 have more votes than this. Sub-subitems is so basic and universal to all PM software, it is astounding that not only do we not have it yet, but there is no scheduled release date. We are currently begrudgingly using the paid app as a work-around but that is a ticking time bomb as its performance degrades as you add more and more subitems to a board. With hundreds of projects and therefore thousands of tasks being tracked, it is only a matter of time before this will become untenable. Due to the nature of the work-around, archiving project data is not an option without losing the links that tie it all together. Can we get some sort of response and timeline from the devs on this? It’s too critical and too basic to ignore! It’s also quite disconcerting to see that this topic is marked as “solved”. I’m not sure what that means to the devs but I would hardly consider that to be the case without at least a commitment and timeline from the devs, let alone an actual release of the feature. Please please please give this the attention it deserves!
same here. The paid app is not a real alternative
The paid app is not an alternative
Hi, this is an urgent need for me as well. Can we get a release date on this, this is not resolved in the least!!!
Do we have any updates on Subitems under Subitems? Is it in the Roadmap?
I know there’s not a release date, but are there any further updates? It’s been a year
The paid app is not a real alternative for this request.
Complex projects, specifically when data/reporting is affected when not sorted in detail, fail to fit into such narrow options. For example, I have a Type of Work Stream (Board), that achieves specific status (Group) and Projects (item level) each have key Activities (Sub Items) and sadly… there are specific tasks that need data tracking linked to those (this would be a sub sub item). I feel forced to leave out data OR try to patch-work multiple boards together. We depend on reporting/filtering data to advise leadership or board members on how things are progressing, to send out certificates/notifications, understand marketing lists or targets, and more. We need AT LEAST one more level available to increase the flexibility of boards.
Hi community! Amy here from the monday.com team. Thank you for sharing your feedback about adding subitems under subitems. We hear you, and we know how valuable this feature would be for managing complex workflows.
Our team is first focusing on enhancing subitems to ensure they function as effectively as items. Once that’s complete, we plan to explore adding further levels of subitems as part of our long-term roadmap this year.
We’ll keep you updated as we make progress - thank you for helping us improve monday.com!
Hi Amy, That is great news. In the process of enhancing subitems so that they can function as items, it would be really helpful if a board could be filtered to display only subitems - ie. enhance the filtering to allow this.

Hey teams, I am sketching out a solution to this. Your message about pricing certainly resonates. With the humble (and obvious) point that software does cost money to create and maintain (even with the state-of-the-art tools we use today), I humbly ask: What pricing structure works makes the most sense to you? Flat monthly rate, regardless of number of users? Small rate per user? Pricing tiers, for example: X$/ months for 3-5 users, $Y for 6-10 users, etc.?
Knowing that this functionality will become part of the core platform as soon as possible, we would all be making this investment for a limited time–including me.
All feedback is welcome.
Hi Amy, thanks for your update. As with the other users above, both enhancing subitems and providing subitems for subitems is beginning to prove essential, with the work arounds causing increased complexity as time goes on. It would be essential to roll Monday out beyond our team at an Enterprise level. Are you able to give expected timeframes - are you working to a month, a year, or just “longer roadmap”? Thank you.
Sub items should not be feature I need to pay a 3rd party to “fix”.
And at $612 it’s not a fix my small company will be paying.
Instead, I’m more likely to look for a Monday competitor with better features and value for money.
This should be a basic feature included in the core product. It’s frustrating to see what should be a relatively simple fix being on the “long-term roadmap” for such an established product. I suspect it’ll never happen.
Simply not good enough.
No fee is appropriate.
Monday is meant to be the best tool for project management and it should be a core - ie free - feature of the product.
I already pay £11 a month per seat. This should be plenty to cover simple development / enhancements.
I appreciate your efforts Jeff.
I’m just frustrated with Monday and their lack of focus on what is considered by many to be core functionality.
Not good enough.
Some progress is great - but it’s too little and is taking too much time.
You have many frustrated users - over many years! - and this will lead to churn and stop people recommending your product.
