Support multiple operations in one GraphQL call

What’s up with the error “An operation name is required” in the API Playground? When trying to work with multiple operations, it gives an error saying an operation name is required even when they already have been named.

I found another thread asking the same thing, but the issue was not resolved and the thread was closed.

Hey Max, multiple operations are not supported – you’ll get this error each time. It’s a known issue that we’ve documented with our R&D team.

Hello. Same here. This is pretty unfortunate as a first experience with the Monday.com API, and render an otherwise very useful tool much more difficult to use. For reference, the other thread was opened back in August of 2020; any ETA as to when this might be fixed? Thank you.

Hello @sebastienbarre and welcome to the community!

I was informed that this is possible now :muscle:

You can use a syntax like this one to make multiple API calls in a single request. They will execute one at a time (top to bottom) and then return data. The request is still subject to timeouts and other rate limits.

mutation {
  item1: create_item(item_name: "New item 1", board_id: 12345678) {
    id
    name
  }
  item2: create_item(item_name: "New item 2", board_id: 12345678) {
    id
    name
  }
}

Cheers,
-Matias
