Reference mirrored people columns in an automation.
Hi all,
I have one board which acts as my “source of truth” a lot of boards reference that board but items in the source of truth have owners which need to carry over to other boards. When things happen in any boards, but in particular in connected boards, I need to notify the owners of those items of these happenings. Currently you cannot reference mirrored people.

Hey @Bernard117 if you are open to marketplace apps, you could notify(via email) mirrored columns with Supermail which supports sending automated designed emails to mirrored columns.

That’s a very useful request — being able to reference mirrored people columns in automations would let ownership flow across connected boards and ensure the right individuals get notified. It would make cross‑board coordination much clearer and more efficient. E-ZPassFL

This is a great use case, and we see this challenge quite often with mirrored People columns and connected boards.
While native monday.com automations currently can’t reference mirrored People columns, this workflow can be achieved using VLOOKUP Auto-link by Jetpack Apps.
With VLOOKUP Auto-link, you can:
Use a connected board as your “source of truth”
Pull the People column directly into the connected boards (not as a mirror, but as a real People column)
Use that synced People column in automations, notifications, and ownership-based workflows
This way, when something happens on any connected board, you can reliably notify the actual item owners without depending on mirrored columns.

You can also try the Mirror Item Multiple Boards app.
It allows you to add the same item across multiple boards with full sync (incl. updates+replies).
You can switch to regular columns instead of mirror columns. Regular columns would allow you to use the people column in automations.
