What are ops/month

I want to group a board by a value from a connected board. I couldn’t find any way to do this using built-in methods, so I’m using Autoboost to update a column from a mirror column.

The Free plan says it permits 100 ops/month.

What are ops/month?

Is an op creating an automation, or is an op a single run of an automation?

If an op is creating an automation, then that will probably work for me.

But if an op is a single run of an automation, that will be a problem. The next cheapest AutoBoost plan is Starter for $15/month. But $150/year every year just to update a column in a board would be ridiculous.

Is there a better/cheaper way of doing this in Monday?

My first impressions of Monday are very mixed. It’s certainly pretty, but I’m finding the automation and programmability to be really weak, and I seem to be bumping up against the limits of what it can do almost immediately.

The fact that you can’t group by mirror columns, or even copy column values from one column to another (except for very limited column types, date and number I think) is mind-blowing. This alone makes connecting boards together almost pointless.

And even if you do find an app that does what you need, the prices are nuts. Some of these ‘apps’, which really just enable you to perform some trivial automation that the platform itself should support, cost more than Amazon Prime or a Netflix subscription!

Not only that, but the responsiveness of app driven automation is bad. I’m seeing on average a minimum 8 second delay for an update to a single item, and sometimes a lot longer.

I’m starting to get the impression that to achieve anything worthwhile without paying through the nose, I’m would have to use Make.com or Pipedream to handle any custom logic, but even then the performance would be poor due to the cross datacenter HTTP requests.

Hey, you can consider evaluating Column to Column app.

It helps to copy values between column with a support of many column types transformations (including mirror columns and formula columns).

Pricing is solely based on the amount of seats, the usage is unlimited.

Thanks.

Is the per seat price based on the number of users who actually use the app to create new automations, or is it based on the number of users in the account whether they use the app or not?

I’m just curious because I found a lot of the app price schemes quite unclear.

It’s based on the number of users in the account.

In general there are two native pricing types supported in monday.com:

  1. Seat-based → based on total number of seats in the account
  2. Feature-based → defined by app vendor, usually it’s based on usage (however app developer defines it) or set of different features.
