I’ll start: hovering over a status label lets you leave a status note.
Didn’t notice this for 6 months of using monday. ![]()
What about you? Please share and let’s create a useful thread together!
Ok ok, I have to say is that I had NO idea you could leave a status note!!!
Wish I had something to contribute, but I don’t have anything “interesting” to mention at the moment.
The keyboard shortcuts. ie Cmd/Cntrl I, B or G. They’re amazing!

That you can’t refer to mirrored columns in automations without a 3P app or a workflow to copy mirror into a local column, which cascades over time into an unmanageable mess.
That consistency with status names across boards are very important for things like filters in dashboards (use same names & Colors!).
Also wish I knew how lack of usability dashboards are and scheduled PDF’s are garbage.
Oh yes - consistency is absolutely essential when handling everyday tasks. ![]()
Mind blown, I didn’t know about the status note, and I am well past 6 months!
great tip!
I wish I knew that clicking on a column footer lets you edit the unit for Formula columns! I wasted so much time setting up duplicate formula columns - one with a concatenated unit and one without for dashboard reporting.
The other big one for me was the shortcut Ctrl + B which lets you access Quick Search. I use that so many times every day!
Оooh, thanks for sharing! Really handy tips!
Adding emojis in board titles and status columns makes everything way easier to spot.
Yeah, thanks, we do use relates emojis in board titles!
For example, for product meetings we “reserved“

hovering over a status label lets you leave a status note.I have used this feature for several years. I find it very helpful when scrolling through the long section of activity notes because the status label remains with the comment even after the status has changed. Two feature improvements I would suggest: 1) Allow the comment to be edited. If I make a mistake, I have to delete it and create a new one. 2) Allow more than one status note
Can’t agree more - it will be really handy.
two things on my part:
- (short) description of columns. You want single or two words for the column, but maybe some information for the labels in the column if they are not selfexplenatory
- Automations =/= integrations. I installed 3rd party apps for additional automation capabilities, but if I want to use them I can’t simply head to the automationscenter and work with them. No you need the integration center and implement a new automation. Afterwards you can manage this in the automations center
Thank you! Can truly relate to both statements ![]()
I wish I knew that the standard response for feature requests was “There’s an App for that” - usually at a premium price (more than what I pay for my account!)
I appreciate external users developing apps for their own need, but this isn’t a viable solution for many businesses from a cost and date security perspective.
I also wish they were more transparent with their roadmap, instead of focussing on AI add-ons!
That Find and Replace isn’t a default function in the platform and requires purchasing an extra add on. ![]()
When I first started using monday. com, I really wish I had known how powerful automation and integrations could be. At first, I used it mostly as a basic task board, not realizing it could actually replace a lot of manual workflows — like auto-assigning tasks, sending reminders, or updating statuses based on triggers. Once I explored the automation center, it really unlocked the platform’s potential for my team.
Another thing I wish I knew earlier was the importance of structuring boards properly from the start. It’s easy to get messy fast if you don’t think through how you organize groups, columns, and items. Taking a little time upfront to plan the structure (especially with connected boards) can save a lot of rework later.
Also — the Dashboards and Views feature? Totally underrated. Being able to visualize data from multiple boards in one place (with Gantt charts, timelines, workload, etc.) took our project tracking to the next level.
So my advice:
Invest time early in learning automations
Think through your board structure
Don’t sleep on dashboards and integrations
monday. com is super flexible, but the learning curve is gentler if you know where to look first!
Thank you! Couldn’t agree more!
