Workaround for automation for mirror columns connected to multiple boards?

Hi, I’ve tried searching with no luck, so really hoping someone can help!

We have a high level board which is connected to multiple low level boards, with a mirror column showing the progress of tasks within these low level boards.

I want an automation that when all the tasks in this mirror column are marked “Done”, it will mark the overall project status (on the High level board) as “Done” as well. But I keep getting the “automations do not support mirror columns that are connected to multiple boards” issue.

Has anyone found a way to override this? I’m still only a moderate Monday expert so I’m having no luck with Formula or AI columns as yet, and haven’t found an app that can do what I’m asking either.

You can try the Mirror Item Multiple Boards app.

It allows you to add the same item on multiple boards, and sync changes across items as well.

You could also create a high-level board with tasks from different low-level boards.

You don’t need to use mirror columns. Our app works with regular columns. So your automations can run on all the regular columns.

We published a detailed walkthrough in the community that directly addresses this challenge. It shows you how to trigger mirror automations based on all mirror statuses of low level boards being something. So you can set the status on a high level board based when all mirror statuses are “Done”.
