I've been dealing with a recurring frustration and wanted to see how others handle it.
We use Mirror columns to pull data from connected boards. The mirror works — the data shows up correctly. The problem is using those values downstream — triggering automations,
feeding formulas, filtering properly.
I know the new Workflow Builder now supports Mirror columns. But here's the thing:
- Pro accounts get 5 workflows. That's it. You burn one workflow just to copy a mirror value to a usable column — and you need to do that for every mirror you want to work with.
- Enterprise gets unlimited workflows, but most teams aren't on Enterprise.
- Even if you have the slots — building a full workflow just to make a column value usable feels like overkill for something this basic. It's a 30-second need wrapped in a
10-minute setup.
The other workarounds aren't great either:
- Automations that copy mirror values on change (uses operations, breaks on formula-based mirrors)
- Formulas referencing mirrors (limited support depending on mirror type)
None of these feel proportional to the problem. We're maintaining complex logic to work around a read-only limitation.
