What we're asking for
An SDK method that lets marketplace apps open the automation centre pre-filtered to their own templates — triggerable from a button or CTA within the app view itself.
The problem today
Currently, users who install a marketplace app have no direct path from the app view to its automation templates. To discover and set up automations, they must:
1. Leave the app view
2. Navigate to the automation centre
3. Search for the app by name
4. Browse to find the relevant templates
This is a multi-step, non-obvious journey. In practice, many users never complete it — not because they don't want automations, but because they don't know where to look or that the templates exist at all.
Why this matters
For apps like ours (SIMB — Same Item in Multiple Boards), automations are the core value driver. Users who set up even one automation are significantly more engaged and more likely to convert to paid plans. But automation discovery is currently a dead end: there's no signpost, no prompt, and no path from the app experience to the automation centre.
Being able to place a "Set up an automation" button directly inside the app view would let us guide users at exactly the right moment — right after they complete their first manual action — closing the gap between "I installed this app" and "this is part of my workflow."
Who benefits
This isn't specific to our app. Any marketplace app whose core value is delivered through automations would benefit. It would also improve the overall quality of Monday's automation ecosystem by reducing the discovery gap that currently sits between installation and activation.
