Adding single users/ seat

I running a hobby alone, and I am fine with the free plan. I don’t need too much. The only thing that I miss is the Gantt chart.

Given that this is the only thing I need of the paid plan, I would gladly pay 10€/Month to upgrade and get it - I don’t really need any other additional features - but I won’t pay 30€/Month only because I need a Gantt in addition to what the free plan currently offer.

If they add the possibility of adding ONE seat only I think they would get my subscription. Otherwise, no, sorry. Unless they won’t add Gantt charts in the free plan
My workaround now is to use Date column to remark deadlines and give up a visual representation of timelines.

Man I’m in exactly the same situation, just months behind. I’m so exhausted finally finding this answer that I can just say I agree. I think this is the perfect app for me, which is a big deal, but the pricing structure kills it. did you find a better solution? merakimeadow@pm.me

if a couple people want to jump on a subscription I might be down, hit me up

Really hoping a single seat option becomes available for the Basic and Standard plans. I’ve loved using Monday’s WM system during the trial period and while I prefer the Standard for its automation and integration features, I can’t justify paying for 3 seats especially considering I can get those same features along with Timeline, Gantt, Kanban, and Time Tracking on Notion’s Plus plan for $8. If Monday offered a single seat Standard plan and kept the same pricing structure ($9 for Basic and $12 for Standard), I would switch over from Notion in a heartbeat.

Do you think people who choose the Pro plan don’t care about money? I switched from Pipedrive, where I paid $25 for the same functionality, and in Monday it’s $100 — four times the difference! It feels like a rip-off…

I am requesting that there is a single-seat option for freelancers/solopreneurs. I believe that if you put out a survey among those businesses that you would see a massive uptick in users.

You could structure it this way:

Only let 1 seat able to buy the Basic or Standard plans.
Basic:
1 seat: $15/mo
3 seats: $27/mo

Standard:
1 seat: $19/mo
3 seats: $36/mo

By doing this, you would have people who need 2 seats automatically jump to a 3-seat plan because it would be adding value by making it $9/seat or $12/seat thereby, increasing your profit margins and providing more value to those businesses. Also by structuring the seats this way, you’re showing that your business is supporting freelancers and solopreneurs that want to functionality of Monday and are able to afford it.

Currently the minimum number of seats I can purchase is 3 seats, making the barrier of entry pretty high for small startup companies that are bootstrapping things without funding. I’d love to use the Dev product, but there’s no way I can swing $27/month x 12 = $324 up front when I haven’t made my first dollar with my business yet. This is especially true since it will be a long time until I need 3x seats.

I’d love to be able to buy seats a la carte - 1 seat at a time. Or at least have a single-seat package, for the Dev product.

In the meantime I’ll be making Free Work Management work for me.

Totally agree Cameron. We’re a company that needs 6 seats. So therefor we have to pay $912 extra dollars a year for ONE extra seat? That’s silly. If we’d known this before hand it would have swayed us away from Monday.com.

Edit: Ultimately while we would pay for that extra seat, in the end it makes more sense to just have him as a guest and his tasks checked off by his supervisor. If the idea behind not selling individual seats was to artificially inflate the price- you’ve managed to instead drive down how much we spend.

Total agree, it is even statistically worse going from 5 to 10, its a 100% forced increase and doubling the spending per year. Considering when having 5 members you are considered a small company. To load small companies up with a doubling yearly fee is just crazy. They seem not to have much concern about this as they probably assume no one will leave and set up a entire system at a competitor saas.

how about not forcing organisations to work with compromises as the fee is already high enough to be able to add single seats.

It is a bit ridicolous to ask from a 30 seat company to work with mediocre solutions only so Monday.com can keep a unfair price structure. Some increments are 100%, which does not even make sense.

We are not a large business but as we grow, we would like to add just enough users as we need for our team. This whole “required seats” thing is actually super frustrating and make us want to find a different SAAS project management service.

No business in the planet wants to pay for something they don’t need. Like every other software we use charge a certain amount for certain quantities like everyone else!

1-3 $
4-5 $
6-10 $
11-20 $
20 - 30 $
Etc

It’s really not hard. You are loosing customers because of this…
