We are testing the “Connect Board” column question on a WorkForm (trial feature). We really like that this may become available as it would help us with a manual component of our workflow.
We use this column to connect multiple project boards to a portfolio board. We connected all item(s) via the connect boards column. It helps us display an item count + status bar mirrored from the project boards (showing status of all connected items as a bar chart essentially). The goal of this connection is to help our team assess complexity / duration of the project from the portfolio board. It gives a good overview of all projects. The mirror number column can also help us with our reporting/dashboards (showing complexity).
Previously, we had to manually connect all items from our board(s) AFTER the workform was submitted to our portfolio board.
However, now that the ‘Connect Boards’ column is available on WorkForms, our workflow can be simplified. However, there is one shortcoming. The WorkForm question works best when connecting ONE item. Users have to select each item separately if you want to roll up the statuses to the portfolio board (see screenshot below). We sometimes have 100 individual items on each project board. We’d like an easy/quick way to ‘select all’ items from the Connect Boards question on the WorkForm. Is this upgrade planned?
