As a user, I would like the ability to quickly visualize board types in my board list (left panel).
Boards could benefit from iconic type images and other attributes such as tags, colors, etc …

We’re working on this now! We have just released a test whereby the left pane merges all of the boards together in one list and uses icons next to the board name to show if the board is shareable or private. Would you like to test this?

Yes, i noticed that yesterday in the beta options. I activated it and am now using it.
I would like to see a little more features in this including:
Customizing floder colors
Adding a custom icon before (or after) the board name like you have to identify the type but for our own types. We use Project boards, Discussion boards, General list boards, Quote boards …
Also, and I have this as another feature request; having the ability to create sub-folders.
But all and all, this is a great start

Good call Danny. I spent 20 minutes the other day adding emojis before board names… only to find they disappeared the next time I clicked on the board!

For the moment, emojis are not supported indeed…

+1 on the Emojis! I set them for my Boards and Status updates only to find out that they disappeared shortly after. 
+1 on this. One of the best things about Monday is how versatile the boards are, so my team uses them for many different purposes (task management, project management, CRM, admin process tracking, etc.)
As we start to add more boards it can be difficult to intuitively know what type a board belongs to. Icons or color-coding that can be applied to each board would greatly improve our ability to navigate boards quickly.
I agree, a simple color dot or icon. This would help identify whose board it is especially if you do a dot color, we could assign that color or icon to somone on our team. The icon could be like a board game piece, think Monopoly (car, thimble, top hat, etc.)
+1 on this. It greatly improves readability of both the boards and the tasks statuses or types.
Do you have any visibility on when this could be released?
This still seems to be a problem, at least for us it is not working. Any update on this issue?

There’s some icons already built-in to Monday Marketer and Monday Dev.
Users should be able to select an icon for the folders/boards/docs/forms/etc on the left-hand sidebar and should be able to use emojis in the names.
Hi, I am a new user, and hope someone in the community could guide me in the right direction.
I have seen different icon types in the CRM template, and I would like to use them in my own “from scratch” version. Is this possible? This includes the different way, that linked board’s items appear in the CRM template compared to my “from scratch” version.

I spotted these on the CRM edition and thought they’d be a cool edition to the standard Monday product.
A setting in each board - ‘Choose board type icon’.

It would be great to be able to customise board icons from a selected few icons. For example, leads, deals and members have different board icons which look great and help for recognition. However when we create more complicated CRM boards we cannot use any icons.
Furthermore if we template from a CRM board it duplicates the icon. See my image as reference.
It doesn’t have to be a lot of icons, but it would be nice to have 10-20 to pick from.
Agree that having the ability to pick from a set of icons for our own Board would be very useful to help our users navigate through the differents boards quicker.

Agreed! I’ve seen marketplace apps that can do this. Would love to see this option.
It is a bit demoralizing to organize human matters having case numbers that aren’t “deals” in the CRM where the only icon available for “deals” is a dollar sign.
(Monday.com, please fix this readily fixable issue…and don’t upcharge me for bringing it up, please.)
Here is a time-costly work around for users who want to use emojis in names (Really, Monday? There is no reason why users shouldn’t be able to use 2024 vernacular emojis in naming/organizing):
If you use the shortcut Control - comand - space on a Mac, it will open the emoji panel. It’s not a perfect fix, but users with visual organizational needs, including but not imited to those who need visual organizational functionabiity as related to disabilities, might find this useful.

It’s great to see there was a lot of activity on this request.
Although … six years along, and it appears it’s still not possible to customise the icon used for custom boards. Have I understood this correctly?
And that there has been no further input from Monday Dot Com staff since Julia Fagelman’s response in April 2019? As she’s not been active on these forums since May 19, 2024, I suspect someone else at Monday DOT com needs to jump in here and take a look. Although I have no idea how to make that happen.
