Limit Email Automations to One Email per Assignee

When someone is assigned directly to a People column, they receive one notification.

However, when we use email automations tied to People columns, the behavior changes. The first time someone is assigned to a people column (ex: Sales Team, Planning Team, or Onsite Team), they correctly receive the custom email notification set through an automation. But when another person is later added to the same column, the original assignee receives the email again even though their assignment has not changed. This results in duplicate, unnecessary notifications.

What are you trying to achieve

We want each person to receive the custom email notification only once, when they are first assigned to a People column. Adding additional people to the same column should not trigger another email for those already assigned. Our goal is to ensure critical assignments to the Sales, Planning, and Onsite teams generate one clear, customized email notification per assignee, without duplicates or inbox clutter.
