I was trying to use the forms to create work orders and other forms that would be helpful to refer back to in the future. After contacting support, it appears that there is no current way to add a unique identifier or generate a form number to refer to it in the future.

Would the Item ID Column work for you in this case? It acts as a unique identifier for the item and remains fixed to the item when moving the item between groups and boards.
