In an item’s Activity Log, you can currently see if an action was performed by an Automation by hovering over the Monday icon in the “user” column. A tooltip pops up and says “This operation was made by an automation”. It does not tell you which automation caused that change, however. This would be EXTREMELY HELPFUL in troubleshooting.
We have boards with over 100 automations and several complex Workflows active on them. It is not always easy to determine which Automation or Workflow made a change.
Additionally:
- This tooltip does not differentiate between operations made by automations vs. workflows.
- Operations made by Integrations (Monday API calls, Make, Zapier) are shown as being made by the user and not identified as being made by an integration.
I realize there is a slight workaround now: You can open the Automation Run History, then filter by item name. But this only shows changes made by automations and does not include changes made by workflows.
Suggested features:
- If a change was made by an automation, hovering over the Monday icon in the Activity Log should say “This operation was made by automation [automation name or ID number]”. Ideally, the automation name or ID number would be a hyperlink that we can click on to take us directly to that automation.
- If a change was made by a Workflow, the tooltip should read “This operation was made by a Workflow [workflow name or ID]”. (It currently reads “by an automation”)
- If a change was made by an Integration linked to the particular user, the tooltip should read “This operation was made by [Integration name]”. For example “This operation was made by Monday API” or “This operation was made by Make.com”.
