Add the ability to set a date using every time period.
I want to send a notification on the 1st of every month to specific users when a column is empty. There is no easy way to set a date every month without it having been manually entered. If I can set the reminder date every month to a specific day of the month then this would be possible.
Hi @jpendleton, this is possible with this automation setup.
Using the single automation “When Date arrives → notify user and push Date by 1 month”, you can:
Send a notification on a specific day (for example, the 1st of every month), and
Automatically move the date forward by one month, creating a recurring monthly reminder.
This removes the need to manually re-enter the date each month and achieves the same outcome as a recurring monthly schedule.

Totally agree being able to set a recurring date every month would make automations like this much easier. Right now, most people end up manually updating the date or using workarounds with formulas.
It is really hard going from Smartsheet to Monday. You can’t automate based on a formula column.
Auto-pilot hub should have been able to handle this, but When a Date Arrives only triggers for one row.
We are HIPAA and can’t use outside apps….
Yes, but I still need to be able to set the date to the 1st of the month when a new item is added. The loop can’t be closed to ensure someone doesn’t forget to set the date….
I did add a notification to myself when a new item is added, but it is not a very good work-around if I’m not around or miss it or even leave the company.
That makes total sense. Having a process that depends on someone remembering to set a date (or catching a notification) isn’t reliable long term, especially if you’re unavailable.
If you’re open to third-party apps, this is one area where low-code platforms like Make or Zapier can help.
