Alert Workforms User if File Upload Is Too Large Prior to Submission

Our team typically works with large design files such as Photoshop documents that typically are near 500MB. We are noticing that Workforms users are initiating the file upload process for their artwork and then continuing to scroll down to continue filling out the form while the upload processes. This poses an issue because larger files can take ~5 minutes to load, at which point the user is at or near the bottom of the form and will not see the red box that states “Upload Failed”. The user will then submit the form and be unaware that their file did not upload, until down the line when another member of the team picks up the project and the art they need is not present.

I have a few different suggestions on how to combat this:

  1. Present the user with a splash screen when they submit the form any time there is an unresolved error. This splash screen would inform them of the number of errors and potentially the names of the questions that had errors so they can go back and correct them.
  2. Have the File Upload task first parse the size of the file so that the user sees the “Upload Failed” message before they scroll past it

Our monday form builder app, Easyform, provides advanced file upload features that can help address this issue:

upload-fail

Our file upload settings include:

  • Pre-upload file size validation (stops oversized files before upload begins)
  • File type restrictions (e.g., only .mp4, .png files)
  • Maximum file count limits
  • Maximum file size limits
  • Clear progress bars for upload tracking

Check our file upload documentation for detailed setup instructions.
