Our organization has a lot of different use cases for Monday Boards depending on department and level of skill.
One request across the organization regardless of department is the capability to add emojis in the naming of items.
We know most people reviewing other peoples boards including leadership isn’t going to scroll and review all the columns. It would be extremely beneficial if we could add an emoji such as a flag or ! to alert leadership to risk items that are not necessarily at risk for timeline, but are a workflow risk, etc.
I know a lot of other organizations may not want the capability of these being in line items, so having the option to enable/disable in admin panel may be beneficial as well.
I think what you are basically trying to achieve is to make certain items standout visually. Using the Conditional Coloring options in a board view, you can color columns or complete items/rows based on the value of a certain column.
Another way would be to use a formula column as your second column (next to the name) and use a formula to define which item is at risk, over budget, … and return the prefered emoji in each of those cases. It could look something like this:
I believe Maarten has the best solution and how I would prefer to do it. Though you CAN add emojis to line items in the text. All you have to do is right click if you are using Edge or Chrome.
Your formula idea was genius. While I was trying it out, I realized I wasn’t sure how to get the emojis to populate so I had the bright idea to copy and paste into the output of the formula from the Board Name emojis.
Which then lead me to wondering if I can copy and paste emojis into the formula column… can I paste into line items too?
Answer is sure can! Workflow is a little funky obviously since you have to go somewhere else to get the emoji but it gives me what I need.
