First community post! I saw the new features regarding multi-level boards, and it seems to fit our needs perfectly. However, we have a board with a lot of items, and don’t want to manually recreate them
Is there any way to convert a regular board into a multi-level board in a easy way?
Unfortunately not. Multilevel boards have to be created from scratch at this time. To make things simpler, what about using sidekick to add the columns you need on the new board?

Hi Filip,
Like Desiree mentioned, multi-level boards currently need to be created from scratch.
One option if you already have a board with a lot of items is to export the board to Excel and then import it into a new multi-level board.
The native monday importer doesn’t currently support importing into multi-level subitem boards, so I built an importer app that can create items and multiple subitem levels from Excel or Google Sheets, which works well for larger migrations like this.
I’m currently submitting it to the monday marketplace, but giving early access to users who need this type of migration.
If helpful, I can also explain how the data usually needs to be structured when moving a board with many items into a multi-level board.

Hi @fiLLLip ,
Currently in monday, existing boards can’t be directly converted into a multi-level board. To use that structure, it needs to be set up as a new board instead.
If you need any further assistance with this, please feel free to reach out.

Hey! If you don’t want to recreate everything from scratch, check out Same Item Multiple Boards in the marketplace. It lets you keep a single item synced across multiple boards with selective field syncing, so you get that “multi-level” structure without duplicating data or losing updates.
You can set it up so changes on one board automatically reflect on the others. No manual copy-paste or automations needed. Works with subitems too.
