It is possible to set up an automation for an individual task in a group, rather then the whole group?
I need to set one up so when a status changes on each task, a different manager receives an email.

Welcome to the community. If you can identify the items where you want to run an automation (e.g. by status) you can add a AND ONLY IF in your custom automation, like:
Hiya, thank you. Wouldn’t that be an automation that would effect the whole group though, rather then one line/ task of the group?
It depends how many items have the status selected (Done in the example above)
