Embedding a Google Drive folder in a workdoc using Embed everything widget

I would like to be able to embed a Google Drive folder in a Workdoc so that a user with access to the folder can navigate it as if they were in Google Drive (open and work with any file or subfolder under the root folder from within the WorkDoc, with permissions based on their access in Google Drive). When I add the folder link in the Embed everything widget, I get a 403 error stating “We’re sorry, but you do not have access to this page.” Is this a feature that might be available in the future?

As far as I know the Embed Everything widget (in dashboards or Workdocs) renders content inside an iframe.

Google Drive does not allow folder URLs to be embedded in iframes unless they’re published in very specific ways. Standard Drive folder links will return:

403 – You do not have access

Even if:

  • You personally have access

  • The folder is shared with your org

  • The viewer is logged into Google

It’s blocked because Google prevents folders from being embedded for security reasons (X-Frame-Options restrictions).

So right now, this isn’t something that can be made to work natively with a standard Drive folder link. You could try to embed individual files but there is no guarantee that it would work either though.

Note: Google Drive isn’t supported in the Edge Browser. Team Drive is not yet supported at all.
