enable subitem summary timeline in overview widget

Description

I want to be able to use the summary timeline that is being generated in a main item based on the subitems in the overview widget for the dashboard.

We have boards with features as main items and then use the subitems to define the tasks for our day to day operation. These sub items are also what is being updated by the team with automations and workflows to update the main item.

We are now forced to manually update the main item if we replan, add a subitem or face delay. This is quite a tedious job for the project managers because they need to check every feature if the dates are still correct. If they don’t do these updates or make a mistake our overview dashboards will be incorrect and management will receive incorrect data.

What are you trying to achieve

In the overview widget have the option to use the subitem’s timeline summary as input for the timeline. I’m able to select it, but if selected it doesn’t create any timeline or status indication for the overview

Welcome to the community. When you enable the subitem column option “Rollup subitem summary” you will get a new main item column with the summary of all subitem column values. However, this summary column will not show in your dashboards.

Alternatively, you can use the Rollup Subitems app that will summarize the subitem values in normal monday columns in the main item. As these are normal columns, they will show up in dashboards.
