Importing a Google Sheet that has multiple sheets within

How do you import a Google Sheet that has multiple sheets within the file? When I select Import Data and then Google Sheets, I see my file for the main Google Sheet, but I’m not able to select which sheet I want to import. This particular file has 4 sheets, and only the data from the first/main sheet imports with this action.
Thanks for your help!!!

@JenZucconi

It is not possible yet. If you need to import the other sheets, you’ll need to copy them in a new file.

Thank you for your response @paulronolo. Hopefully it’s a feature that can be added! In the meantime, off to copy/pasting or duplicating sheets!

Importing a Google Sheet with multiple sheets into another platform or application typically involves selecting the specific sheet(s) you want to import and configuring the import settings accordingly. Here’s how you can import a Google Sheet with multiple sheets:

  1. Select Sheets to Import:
  • When importing from Google Sheets into another platform or application, you’ll usually have the option to select which sheets you want to import. This selection can typically be made during the import process.
  • Depending on the platform or application you’re importing into, there may be different methods for selecting sheets. For example, in Excel or Google Sheets, you may be prompted to choose specific sheets during the import process. In other applications, you may need to specify sheet names or identifiers.
  1. Configure Import Settings:
  • After selecting the sheets you want to import, you may need to configure additional import settings such as data formatting, column mapping, or import frequency (for automated imports).
  • These settings can vary depending on the platform or application you’re importing into. For example, if you’re importing into a data visualization tool like Tableau or Power BI, you may need to specify how to handle headers, data types, and null values.
  1. Complete the Import Process:
  • Once you’ve selected the sheets and configured the import settings, you can proceed with the import process. This typically involves initiating the import and waiting for the data to be transferred from the selected sheets into the destination platform or application.
  • Depending on the size of the data and the import settings, the process may take some time to complete.
  1. Verify Imported Data:
  • After the import process is complete, it’s essential to verify that the data has been imported correctly. Check that the data from each selected sheet appears as expected in the destination platform or application.
  • If there are any issues or discrepancies, you may need to troubleshoot the import settings or adjust the import process accordingly.

The Monday.com platform does not currently provide the ability to select a specific sheet to import from a Google Sheets file that contains multiple sheets. Only importing data from the main sheet is supported. However, you can import data from each sheet individually by using the per-sheet import feature. This can be a little more labor intensive, but will allow you to import data from all the sheets in your Google Sheets file.

To import a Google Sheet with multiple sheets into another platform or application, follow these general steps:

  1. Access the Google Sheet:
  • Open the Google Sheet containing multiple sheets that you want to import.
  1. Select the Sheets to Import:
  • Identify which sheets you want to import into the other platform or application.
  • Typically, you’ll have the option to select specific sheets during the import process.
  1. Export the Sheets:
  • Some platforms may allow you to export each sheet individually from Google Sheets.
  • Alternatively, you may need to export the entire Google Sheet and then select the specific sheets during the import process in the other platform.
  1. Configure Import Settings:
  • Once you’ve exported the sheets, configure the import settings in the other platform or application.
  • This may involve specifying how to handle headers, data types, and other formatting options.
  1. Complete the Import Process:
  • Initiate the import process in the other platform or application.
  • Follow any prompts or instructions to complete the import, including selecting the exported sheets from Google Sheets.
  1. Verify Imported Data:
  • After the import process is complete, verify that the data from each selected sheet appears correctly in the destination platform or application.
  • Check for any issues or discrepancies that may require troubleshooting.
  1. Adjust as Needed:
  • If necessary, make adjustments to the import settings or re-import specific sheets to address any issues that arise.
