Provide URL codes for each tab view in the item page.
What are you trying to achieve
When creating a task board, we provide a link to a specific item on its board to work on. Since it opens up the item page, we would like for there to be a URL code that opens a specific item page tab view that represents the work for that specific task. Currently, only the default item page tab view will open. Board views have specific URL codes, but item page tab views do not.
Interesting request, David. Just thinking out loud here. Could this potentially be addressed by setting the desired tab as the default item view instead?
There’s currently an option in the item page menu to “Set as board default” for a tab view (see screenshot). In theory that would mean whenever someone opens an item from the board, it lands on that tab first.
I realize that’s not exactly the same as having unique URLs for each tab, but depending on the use case it might achieve a similar result if the goal is simply to guide users to the correct workspace inside the item page.
Curious if that would work for your scenario, or if the need is specifically to have different links that open different tabs within the same item.
Not always does the link reach the default view. Most times, it goes directly to the Updates field (I’ve already submitted a feature request that’s still pending as of this writing).
In my specific use case, it does not work. We will be having multiple views on the item level based on specific tasks that are automatically created in the task board. Therefore, having unique item-page-view links would be ideal for this particular use case. As a “work-around,” I created board views, so the links are currently pointing to the boards as well, but I’d rather it go straight to the item level.
