Leave Tracker - marking people as unavailable in Projects board

I would like to use the Time Off Request board template to manage our team’s holiday time. Further, I would like to use it so that people who have approved leave are not available for assigning to projects in the projects board.

I.e. if Broseph has annual leave approved on a specific date, his manager Brosephine cannot assign him to a project on that date. It would also be great if she could see annual leave in the Workload view of the Projects board.

I have looked at the available automations for when a leave request status is approved, and cannot see anything that might help me. I’d be delighted if anyone can give me a shove in the appropriate direction.

(On a related note: in a perfect world we’d have an integration with our CitrusHR product, but as far as I can tell, that’s not a thing (yet?), so there’ll be a bit of duplicate effort until there is.)

Welcome to the Community!

To the same board that is currently hosting your workload management, add an item to account for the leave booked when it is approved. It will come through via automation, already assigned to the correct person and will account towards capacity/engagement.

So on your Time Off Request board, something like:

" when status changes to approved, create item in board "

And the item being created would be the line item to account for the leave approved, and the board will be which ever one is holding your workload widget/capacity.
