Prevent automatic mapping of statuses

Is there a way to prevent an item from retaining its previous status when moved to a different board?

One of my workflows involves an automation which moves an item to a new board. I’ve set up the item mapping in the automation so that the fields I want are mapped over. However, each board has a unique status column with statuses to reflect the different stages of the process, so I don’t want the status to be mapped when the item moves. Even though I haven’t set the status column to map, every time an item is moved, monday.com automatically creates a new status label in the destination board to retain the item’s original status. Is there a way to prevent this from happening?

Hi Grace,

I can replicate the issue and this seems to be a bug to me, you should contact support to report it.

I couldn’t find a way to specify an empty status, but you can enter a text corresponding to an existing status.

At least this way, they will all have the same status.

Want to take your formulas to the next level? Try the Advanced Formula Booster, the app that reinvents formulas in monday.

  • Create formulas without using the Formula column (and avoid its limitations)
  • Build formulas involving data from the previous item, the next item, the sub-items, the parent item, even items in the same group or the same board.
  • In one formula, update multiple columns from multiple items.
