Select all items on board?

Hi all,

I was surprised to not find this question in the community already. Perhaps it’s already a feature, and I’m just missing it somehow.

feature/functionality
Seems simple enough. I’m looking for a way to select all items in a board, without needing to go through every group. We have some boards with only a few hundred items, but they are organized into many groups.

I’d like to be able to easily select all items in the board to apply some bulk action.

use case
In a recent instance, I wanted to delegate access to guests using a people column. I have the setting enabled that guests can only view/edit items they are assigned to, but we have some contractors who I want to grant access to the full board.

Thanks in advance for any guidance!

Hey Max,

Is this what you’re referring to?

Are you essentially looking for a one button selects all option?

Hi Bianca!

Yes, I’m looking for a way to quickly select all items on the board rather than just in a group.

I think your screen recording is showing how to select all items in a group. If a board has 15 groups, this method would require 15 clicks to select all of the items on the board.

Is this the only way to currently select items in bulk?

Thanks for clarifying Max!

At this stage, if you’d like to select all items you’d need to either select each group or use batch actions to select the first and last item in your board. I hear where you’re coming from here though and will share this feedback internally

You can use the Ctrl + A keyboard shortcut

Thank you both! Those are both great solutions. Looks like either of these methods (selecting first and last items with shift held or pressing “ctrl/cmd + A”) will select any visible items, but not those in collapsed groups.

So, if we want to select all in a board, we should first hit “expand all groups” and then use one of the bulk select methods. Totally reasonable. Thanks for the help!
